Nimble and skilful with the ball at his feet. he played three matches in the 1998 FIFA World Cup, and also featured in the 1998/99 UEFA Cup Final. He can play behind the front two, but is more dangerous cutting in from the wings. He played in five of France’s seven 1998 FIFA World Cup matches, scoring once, but after a spell with the u-21’s, he has firmly rediscovered his form and is one reason why the French attack looks a lot more potent than it did when they won the World Cup.

Although ultimately a victor in World Wars I and II, France suffered extensive losses in its empire, wealth, manpower, and rank as a dominant nation-state. Nevertheless, France today is one of the most modern countries in the world and is a leader among European nations. Since 1958, it has constructed a presidential democracy resistant to the instabilities experienced in earlier parliamentary democracies. In recent years, its reconciliation and cooperation with Germany have proved central to the economic integration of Europe, including the introduction of a common exchange currency, the euro, in January 1999. At present, France is at the forefront of efforts to develop the EU's military capabilities to supplement progress toward an EU foreign policy.

Moved from french-side Paris Saint Germain to Arsenal for $820,000 dollars. At some time of his carreer, Arsene Wenger, had doubts about his succeeding in England, but now after the 1997-98 season those doubts disappeared. A forward with great touch and pace, and the ability to wrong foot the opposing defence, the man called the "French Maradona" is surely set to become a big star. He, as Marcelo Salas did one year before, also scored 2 goals versus England to give France their first ever Wembley win over England in February 1999. Main character of the most polemic transfer in World History. His first year at Madrid was full of problems, until del Bosque found a place for the "Puma" (Anelka's nickname). Nico resurrected for the vital games of 2000 UCL, he scored a goal to Bayern München in Germany to give Real the pass to the final, which eventually was won by Real Madrid.

Laurent Blanc play like sweeper, although if the necessities of the team require he could act like defensive midfielder, position in which he began. All this plus a strong personality and a winning character that is transmitted to all his companions. Zidane has the most astounding touch in the planet. Maybe only Rivaldo can match him. His intelligence is above any player that plays the game. Became a French hero after scoring two headed goals in the 1998 World Cup final, and ‘Zizou’ was undoubtedly the star of that competition, as evidenced by his capturing of the European and World Footballer of the Year honours. This perfect attacking midfielder has wonderful dribbling skills, a superb passing range, an eye for goal, a sublime touch and aerial ability, and is a major threat from free-kicks. Arguably one of the best players in the world, he has won the Italian league and UEFA Super Cup at club level with Juventus FC. The France national football team is a European football team among the top sides in international football today.

France came third in the 1958 World Cup. The generation of Michel Platini and others came fourth in 1982, and third in 1986. In between, they won the European Championship in 1984.

France's most successful years were the late 1990s, the generation of Zidane and others. This team played in the semifinals of Euro 96, two years later hosted and won the 1998 World Cup, and two years later won Euro 2000.

Ranked as favourites, this team's performance in the 2002 World Cup was dismal, not winning a single game, nor scoring a goal. Despite this they were still among the favourites to win Euro 2004, but were beaten in the quarter-finals by the eventual surprise winners Greece.
